Project 1

Contextual Study Sketch Journal of a Traditional Street

In this project, we need to choose a traditional street for them to see and research several aspects related to globalization and changes. This helps us to understand these changes by exploring both the physical architecture and the cultural aspects of these streets. We are also required to study the unique features and social significance of traditional streets which makes us gain a deeper appreciation of what makes each street special and how its identity evolves.

SELF-REFLECTION

I have gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of urban development and its impact on traditional streets. I was struck by how much these spaces have transformed, yet retained a sense of history and culture which also amazed me.

From this, I learned that, we must appreciate the layers of meaning embedded in the architecture and social fabric of traditional streets.

I found that engaging with the local community and hearing their stories helped me appreciate the intangible cultural heritage that is often overlooked in urban planning and deeper insights. These interactions highlighted the importance of preserving the unique identity of traditional streets amidst rapid development.

POSTER

SELF-REFLECTION

This project has been a new learning experience as we have hands-on approach of conducting site visits and critically analyzing key issues involved in urban development and the preservation of traditional streets. This projects have encourage our team to think critically on how to developing framework through weekly discussions. I also that framework helped me to structure my thoughts and provided a clear path to identifying and addressing the issues observed during the site visits.

I also found that working closely with my peers and guided by our tutors has  brought new insights and ideas, which were crucial in shaping our final proposal and presenting our findings in a research poster. It allowed me to refine my research and presentation skills, and the feedback received during the seminar was invaluable in enhancing the quality of our work.
